A New Cincinnati Food Tour

The neighborhood north of Findlay Market was once home to those willing to take a chance, to step outside the city boundaries into an area historically known as the Northern Liberties. This territory of gamblers, drinkers, and risk-takers became the domain of beer barons, shopkeepers, and hard-working immigrants. Today a new group of pioneers has arrived, renovating neglected properties and opening small businesses. At Cincinnati Food Tours, we invite you to join us on our newest tour as we explore the Northern Liberties!

Our Beyond the Market Happy Hour Tour is a perfect prelude to a night out in Over-the-Rhine. We’ve positioned this walking tour on Friday afternoon, from 3-6 pm, as a way to kick off your weekend. We’ll share plenty of appetizers, wine and beer, and enough information about the past, the present, and the future to fill your mind. Typical stops on the Beyond the Market Tour include The Rhined, Skeleton Root, The Counter at EMC, Artichoke OTR, and Harvest Pizzeria. Along the way, we’ll check out old breweries and historic architecture and marvel at the thought that Nicholas Longworth grew grapes on the nearby hillsides. We’ll admire public masterpieces created under the guidance of Artworks and discover the significance of The Rookwood Pottery Co. We’ll take you back in time and imagine life “in the basin” when the Bellevue Incline and Miami-Erie Canal were principle means of transportation serving the neighborhood.

So much to see, taste, and drink in the Northern Liberties! We can’t wait to share the excitement that is building beyond the market. This tour blasts off on March 9 and reservations are available at this link. Space is limited to the first 8 “pioneers” who are ready to blaze the trail with us.
