Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Teller’s of Hyde Park. Our lives have been focused in Over-the-Rhine lately so an outing in Hyde Park was a bit out of the ordinary. After a remarkable meal with outstanding service, we proved to ourselves once again that it is worth the extra effort to step outside your comfort zone.

Teller’s is located in an historic building once home to Hyde Park Savings & Loan. You might choose to sit at one of the Teller’s Tables under the ironwork of the original teller windows, or you might enjoy the more intimate atmosphere of a table in the vault. You can also belly up to the elaborate bar or find a space on the rooftop patio. Teller’s is right for whatever your mood.

The menu offers a broad selection to fit all budgets and appetites, and the wine, beer, and cocktail lists are extensive. I could make a meal of the appetizers alone, especially the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls and the Brie Flatbread with apple cranberry chutney. For entrees, I enjoyed the Scallop Tocino and my husband the Ribeye Chimichurri. We traded bites and agreed this surf and turf combination was outstanding.

I’m anxious to return to Teller’s for lunch soon. The descriptions of the salads, sandwiches, and pizzas sound so tempting. Looking around as we left the restaurant, we realized the variety of eating establishments within a block or so of Hyde Park Square. This quaint, historic neighborhood is not only walkable, but also ripe with choices for local food and drink. Sounds like I need to get working on the next of my Cincinnati Food Tours. Cheers to Teller’s for planting the seed!
